KX Super Families

KX SUPER FAMILIES EARN & SAVE!

KX SUPER FAMILIES - VIDEO
Taking some time to gather your items...

Making a decision on what makes its way to the next kids exchange consignment sale and what makes its way to a donation.

1. Kids Exchange does not permit products that are excessively worn, clothing that has tears, rips or stains nor toys or times that are over used or not 100% working.

2. We work very hard to align the sale with charities that benefit local families and children and they do not take in the same items so if they don't make the sales floor for sale and charities will not take as a donation we would ask that you find another place to donate or consider discarding the items.

3. If you do not want to take the time to tag but you want to make the donations to our charities, we have a NEW charity consignor number set up. You can bring in your gently used or worn items and we will tag for you and place on the sales floor under the consignor number 501. 100% of the proceeds benefit the charities. The reason this is so great is because they need cash as much as they need the clothing, shoes, books and toys. So at the end of our sale when we donate the items we also write a check and share the 501 sales among the local charities that we support. A list of these charities can be found under our community section of our website.

STAY CALM & PLAN for your next consignment sale!

Thinking of ways to make your next consignment sale easier on you and your family! Well planning makes all the difference!

Summer objective - STAY CALM AND PLAN!

FILL CONTAINERS
Gather empty boxes, laundry baskets or bags to use for sorting, storing and pricing. Place these empty containers in places throughout your home where you can start to add items over the next few weeks or months. Great places to leave your bins are a spare bedroom, laundry room, family room or living room. Over the next few weeks or months, add items your family no longer uses, when these containers are full store somewhere and replace with another empty bin.

SORTING
Once you have finished collecting and adding items to these bins, bring them all in one room for
sorting. This sorting process is one that will help you price your items and this may take up some space in your living room but if you just knock this part out quickly, the rest of the process will go very smoothly and you will have your living room back in order in no time. Empty all bins on to couch or table top. When you sort items you are trying to accomplish two goals, one is to look for items that do not belong, items that have tears, stains or that are past gently worn, played with or over used will not be accepted at the consignment sale.  Goal number two during this sorting process is to sort back to the containers by price.  Do not worry if they are not like items, you are sorting now for price only to make your tagging process go quickly.

PRICING
Take all empty bins and write on or tape a price to each empty container. Sort all clothing and toys into the container based on the price you will be charging. ( We will talk about pricing in another post )
Now that all of the $2.00, $8.00, $10.00 etc.... priced items are in the bins you will want to get a pen and paper and note all of the prices and total number of items next to each price, now you are ready to print tags and you don't have to go back to the bins until you are ready to attach. So put your bins away and now your living room is back in order and your one step closer to having this process completed.

PRINTING TAGS
Make sure you have the items you will need in order to print tags. You will need to have card stock paper and you will want to have the right color - color is important - for our sale it tells us if you are wanting to pick up your items that don't sell or if you want to donate. So select a pastel color for pick up and or a white card stock for donation based on your decision.  Go to our website www.kxcharleston.com and log in to the seller section and click print tags. Now you can batch print all of your tags at one time! Enter each dollar amount and total number of that dollar amount and follow the simple instructions to place your order in a que. Once all of your tags have been entered and are in que you can not send the entire batch to the printer. Congratulations, now that all of your tags are printed you can place them in a folder for another rainy day.

ORGANIZE OR PURCHASE TAGGING SUPPLIES & BOX
Pull the items you will need together - use an old shoe box or a plastic container with a lid and make your tagging box so the items will be organized during this process and ready for your next sale. Your tagging box should have the following items - scissors, hole punch, pen, clear packing tape, medium to large safety pins, 4 inch cable tags for clothing and 6 inch cable tags for toys or equipment. Use zip lock bags to separate these items in your box and also you may need some large zip locks for items such as socks, hats or other items for sale.

TAGGING ITEMS
Now that you have your tagging box organized and your items sorted by price - this next step will finalize your process and soon you will be on your way to RECYCLING your items and CASHING your check!  You can take this project one box / price at a time now that you are organized or you can knock it all out in one sitting! The best way to do this is to get a place set up so you can hang the items that are going on hangers - two chairs and a broom stick work just as great as an empty closet - and then a clear surface like the kitchen table. So bring in your bins to your table, get your tagging box and get started. I like to cut and hole punch all of my tags at one time placing the like dollar amounts in a zip lock bag so I can easily grab one and tag the item. We will have another blog on how to properly tag each type of item but for this process we will assume you already know how to tag items.
Now that all of your items are tagged you can place them all in bins and get ready for drop off day. If you want to make your drop off day process go quickly then go ahead and organize your items in the boxes you are bringing my like item and by like size then you can unload and place on show floor quickly.

GREAT NEWS
If you have consigned with us in the past and you have picked up items that did not sell, you can leave the tag on and just print stickers to place over your sort number. NOW you do not have to RE-TAG!!! This is great news. Log in to our website, go to seller log in as you would if you were printing tags but instead of entering prices for tags you will see a place to click on if you need to print stickers for a new sort number. This sort number will print on mailing labels and you can affix the mailing label with the new sort number right over the bottom right of your tag covering the last sort number.  This is a huge time saver for those interested.

CONGRATULATIONS - your items are ready for the sale!
